Topic: Support and Troubleshooting / Can't edit text on page

This morning I was editing my site with no problem, but then it started to act up. I would click inside a text box to edit it and nothing would happen. The page would lock up, and in several cases I was able to use the back key to get out of it. It was intermittent at first, but then started to do it all the time, and I would have to close my browser to exit. Not sure what’s going on here, but thought you might like to know.

Topic: Support and Troubleshooting / Admob Stats

I like your new advertising feature, and have enabled it on my site to see how it works. So far everything seems to work accept viewing my advertising statistics. As directred, I opened my profile and clicked on Advertising tab. The page seems to loads, but there’s nothing on it (blank).

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Bruce

Topic: Support and Troubleshooting / Pictures not displaying on mobile

Martin,

Glad you got my message. At least you know its working.

I had a friend who was having problems viewing my mobile site, and we discovered it was a display setting on his phone (unfortunately it wasn’t your brand.) I would contact the manufacturer or whoever you purchased it from and ask them why it isn’t displaying. They should be able to provide some insight.

Topic: Support and Troubleshooting / Pictures not displaying on mobile

Martin,

I accessed your site on my blackberry, and everything seems to be displaying okay.

But check the size of the pictures in your gallery. You might try doing thumbnails, and click to enlarge. Or you might want to reduce the size. On mobile devices, ideally you want your pics no larger than 15-20k. I would remove the text that you included in the pics, and enter it separately as a caption using the ubik text tool. This will help reduce the size of the pics, plus the text will be readable. The way it displays now the text is unreadable.

Also, I sent you an email via your ‘leave message’ page. Let me know if you got it.

Hope this helps, and awesome work on your media designs!

Topic: Support and Troubleshooting / Browser Trouble

Elisa,

I use IE7 and Firefox without any problems. Don’t know why you’d be having issues unless it has something to do with blocking scripts, etc. Hopefully someone from ubik tech will have some insight.

I tried the link you posted – pretty cool! I ran a few of my websites thru it and was amazed at how some of them look. Also, I wasn’t aware of so many different browser options out there.

When I check stats on my sites, 99% of browsers accessing it are IE and Firefox so I never really concerned myself too much with the others. I’ve tried Opera before, but many sites were a mess (like accessing dot com sites on my mobile phone. :)

Good luck with your mobile site!

Topic: Support and Troubleshooting / Edit

I agree Jakes. Ubik is awesome and the people behind the scenes are very dedicated and helpful. They are really working hard to offer a top notch service. I’m still learning how to utilize everything offered here, and look forward to new features and enhancements coming in the future.

Hope you can get your issue worked out soon.

Regards,
Bruce

Jakes,

Also try disabling the firewall in your internet security program after you log on to ubik but before you start to edit your site. See if that makes a difference. It could be interfering with it as I’ve experienced.

Topic: Support and Troubleshooting / call link

I test it on a blackberry 8350. it will recognize #’s entered as text with no problem.

If I create a call link, and when I click on it with my blackberry, it will put the ‘01’ in front of number, then I get a message that int’l phone #’s are not supported on my service. I didn’t do anything to do initiate the ‘01’.

Topic: Support and Troubleshooting / call link

I tried to set up a number using your Call Link option, but when I put in phone number as you require, then go online and click on Call link, your program puts an 01 in front of number. Needless to say, the call won’t connect.

I’m in the U.S.A., and the format I used is +1231231234. (There are no dashes, just numbers per your requirement.) Also, I can’t remove the + sign.

I can enter the number on the page without using the Call Link option and it will dial correctly. So I figure it’s something with your configuration that is automatically entering the prefix 01.

Please advise,
Bruce

Topic: Support and Troubleshooting / tags

Can you expand on what the ‘tag’ option is? Is this the same as META tags used for SEO? How much information can be entered, i.e. is there a limit on total number of characters, words?

Thanks!

Topic: Feature Requests / Paypal transactions

Actually it does work. I figured out what I was doing wrong, and it works perfectly.

And when you get time to add a plain PayPal icon without donation written on it, that would be very cool.

Sorry for the confusion.

Topic: Feature Requests / Paypal transactions

I finally got a chance to experiment with the Paypal option.

1 – Can you offer another icon besides ‘donate’?

2 – I tested purchase option, and when I logged in to Paypal to pay, it came back with an error saying:

Error. We were unable to complete your payment. On your computer, go to https://www.paypal.com for more information.

I believe there’s more to setting up a mobile paypal account than just entering my paypal account name requested on your end. I set this up successfully on another service, and it required a Paypal Mobile API account and entering special log in information. You might want to check with Paypal regarding this.

Bruce

Yes, that’s exactly what I’m suggesting, pre-defined text (code) and target number (currently 5 digit).

Topic: Feature Requests / SMS - text msgs

Petr,

I would be paid for by the person send & receiving the text message, according to the subscription plan they are currently under. Ubik wouldn’t be involved – your only providing the platform for this to take place just as on any web site. Thanks!

Topic: Feature Requests / SMS - text msgs

Is there a way to initiate a SMS text messaging service via my site? For example, I would like to be able to text a coupon code and/or daily specials to anyone who enters a special keyword to my 5-digit response code.

Topic: Feature Requests / HTML & Javascript

Petr,

I’m for it. Case in point is inserting a neat javascript program that I came across that will display a calendar. There’s just no way to do it without the option to insert javascript code myself, or have you offer a calendar in your menu of features.

As phone are becoming more sophisticated, users will want more of the options now available to general web sites.

Topic: Support and Troubleshooting / link issues

I have several sites on ubik. The problem I’ve noticed is when I go from one of my sites to another. The first thing I notice is the landing page formatting is out of wack, and not as it’s supposed to be. Then, if I click on another link within the landing page, I get a HTTP Error 404: Not Found. Further details reveal: HTTP Status 404- /takeme2/error/error.jsp.

If I go directly (without going from a ubik site) to the mobile sites where these errors are being created, everything displays and links work.

Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Topic: Feature Requests / traffic stats

How about adding the option for Google Analytics? You could create an option where we could drop in the code for the analytics.

Since Google Analytics is free, and I have to create the actual code (users have to create a Google account to use this service), UBIK wouldn’t have any licensing issues with Google. All you’re doing is creating the ‘space’ so we can input the code. Even Google says you can use a ‘template’ for this service.

According to Google, here is an example of code that would need to be inputted so you can check for compatibility:

_Basic installation – Copy and paste the code segment into the bottom of your content, immediately before the </body> tag of each page you are planning to track. If you use a common include or template, you can enter it there.

var gaJsHost = ((“https:” == document.location.protocol) ? “https://ssl.” : “http://www.”);
document.write(unescape(“%3Cscript src=’” + gaJsHost + “google-analytics.com/ga.js’ type=’text/javascript’%3E%3C/script%3E”));

var pageTracker = gat._getTracker(“UA-xxxxxx-x”);
pageTracker._initData();
pageTracker._trackPageview();

So what do you think? If you’d like to set something up and have me test it, I’d be happy to volunteer.

Do you offer private label, or a way I can set up something that looks like it is going through my company and users don’t know where it originates from?

If there is someone specific who I should contact regarding this, please let me know.

Thanks!
