Is there a way to initiate a SMS text messaging service via my site? For example, I would like to be able to text a coupon code and/or daily specials to anyone who enters a special keyword to my 5-digit response code.

such feature is not available at the moment – the main issue with scenario you ask for is who (ad how) would pay for the SMS traffic. As always, I’ll add this on the feature requests list of course.

I would be paid for by the person send & receiving the text message, according to the subscription plan they are currently under. Ubik wouldn’t be involved – your only providing the platform for this to take place just as on any web site. Thanks!

sorry, i might have understood the request wrong – so you would like to just initiate SMS message being sent from site visitor’s phone, with pre-defined text (ie the code) and predefined target number?

If so – we’re currently investigating it, and if it turns out to be as simple as the “call://” procedure for call links in text section, we’ll sure add it.

There’s issue about support for such feature across devices though. I’ll let you know when i know more.
